How to Install TWSaver Extension

  1. Open the Chrome Web Store

    Click the button below or search for TWSaver in the Chrome Web Store.

  2. Click "Add to Chrome"

    Hit the blue Add to Chrome button on the extension page, then confirm by clicking Add extension.

  3. Go to Twitter/X

    Open x.com or twitter.com and browse your timeline.

  4. Click Download

    A blue Download button now appears on every tweet with a video. Click it to open TWSaver and save the video.

How to Use the Extension

Browse Twitter Normally

Open Twitter/X in Chrome. The TWSaver extension runs automatically — there is nothing to enable.

Find a Video Tweet

Scroll through your timeline. Any tweet with a video will show a blue Download button in the action bar (next to Like and Retweet).

Click Download

Click the Download button. A new tab opens on TWSaver.com with all available quality options for that video.

Choose Quality & Save

Select your preferred resolution (HD is recommended) and click the Download button. The MP4 file saves directly to your computer.

How the Extension Works

When you visit a Twitter/X page, the extension runs locally in your browser and does the following:

  • Detects videos in tweets by reading the page DOM (Document Object Model).
  • Inserts a Download button next to the standard Twitter actions (Reply, Retweet, Like).
  • When you click Download, it opens a new tab to https://twsaver.com/download?url=... with the tweet URL passed as a parameter.
  • The extension does not send any data to TWSaver servers in the background. Communication only happens when you explicitly click the Download button.

Permissions Justification

The extension requests only the minimum permissions required for its single purpose:

Required to read the current Twitter tab and identify videos. Only triggered when you interact with the extension.

host_permissions: *://*.twitter.com/* and *://*.x.com/*
The extension only runs on Twitter and X.com domains. It cannot access any other website.

Third-Party Services

The extension does not share data with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. When you click the Download button, you are redirected to TWSaver.com, which is governed by our main website Privacy Policy.
